In this video, Ian Haggerty talks about the risk in changing to biological farming system. If you have been using chemical inputs in your farm, you can’t just swap over to biological system instantly, so it’s a case of winning the old system. You can reduce your risks when changing over to biological farming by:

  • Reducing the use of chemicals
  • Buffering chemicals to reduce the amount used
  • Keeping soil coverage to keep in moisture
  • Keeping soil coverage to protect soil life
  • Minimising tillage
  • Assessing the best time to apply nutrients
