Farming- The Next Gen: Film Screening + Panel Discussion

December 16, 2018 @ 4:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Most Australians have never set foot on a farm, or even talked to the people who grow and raise the food we eat. Recent research has found that 88% of residents across our region have never bought food directly from a farmer!

Join us. In the heart of our foodbowl. With local farmers.

To hear about the incredible work, vision and challenges of the new farming generation, and how we can all get involved.

A light locally sourced supper will be provided.

Additional Event Details

Compostable plates and cups will be provided, but if you have the time please bring along your own to save on waste 🙂
A screening of the groundbreaking US documentary ‘Farmland’ (45 minutes) will be followed by a farmer panel discussion and audience Q and A, featuring our next generation of innovative and passionate local farmers.

We’ve got a stellar panel of rockstar farmers including Sallie Jones from Gippsland Jersey, Paul from Thriving Foods Farm, Claire from Square Mile Meats and more! We’ll also have present Farmer Incubator and the farmers behind The Pakenham Secondary College Community School Farm to highlight some of great on the ground initiatives supporting existing growers and growing the next generation of farmers.
Our aim is to pack out Bunyip Town Hall on Sunday the 16th of December with families, farmers and community members from right across the region to connect with and celebrate the incredible work of our farmers and raise awareness of the importance of our farming communities and farmland.
There will also be the opportunity to contribute towards rural mental health initiatives on the night.
